Development of the curriculum for a master programme at the Ecological Faculty of Baku State University

The Michael Succow Foundation and staff from Baku State University developed a new study programme for the newly found Faculty of Ecology within the framework of the GIZ initiative "Sustainable biodiversity management in the South Caucasus."

A first workshop took place in February 2012 in Baku. Representatives of the Foundation compared existing ecological study programmes and shared experiences with landscape ecological study programmes in Greifswald. They identified goals and visions for the future study programme together with participants from Azerbaijan. In the end, they defined the structure and first curriculum contents.

High-level representatives from the new faculty visited Greifswald in the beginning of March 2012 to further develop the programme and to adapt it to local conditions in Azerbaijan. Furthermore, the Michael Succow Foundation supported Baku State University in internationalising the study programme, especially with regard to future university partnerships.
The project was supported by GIZ.
