Uzbek Minister with Succow Foundation in Lower Oder Valley National Park

With a flying visit at National Park Lower Oder Valley the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan could familiarize how transboundary cooperation and management of protected areas in Europe work

The Michael Succow Foundation was glad to accompany the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov together with a delegation headed by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Germany to the National Park Lower Oder Valley. We have been taken the chance to exchange on issues like monitoring, patrolling, regional economic development through regional brands as well as transnational ecotourism development at both sides of the river Oder, in Poland, and Germany. The deputy director of National Park Lower Oder Valley as well as the director of the Polish protected areas of the Western Pomeranian Landscape Protected Areas, Igor Szakowski, gave first hand insights into their day-to-day work as well as their joint long-time coordination.

Michael Succow Foundation is implementing projects on the improvement of transboundary conservation in Central Asia in different regions. Since long in Ustyurt Plateau in EcoAral project and recently in the newly started IKI OneHealth project. In another project we facilitate the improvement of management and communication in the Zarafshan valley between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
